By entering Sams Ride, riders are agreeing to the following terms and conditions:

  • The event is non competitive i.e. not a race and should be treated as such
  • Refunds will only be given at the discretion of the organisers and will be limited to ENtry fees excluding any transaction fees or external third party levies.
  • All riders must register on the day prior to starting the event and must check in at the end of their ride in order to ensure that no riders are stranded on the course. The organisers will endeavour to rescue riders unable to complete the course, depending on demand and location, it may be that there could be a substantial delay. Riders unable to complete the course must call in and inform the organisers of their situation. The event closure time will be 5pm.
  • Helmets are compulsory for the duration of the event. No helmet, no ride.
  • Participants are responsible for their own bike and  equipment. The bike must be fully roadworthy and propelled solely through a chain set, by the legs  without any other assistance.
  • All participants under the age of 18 must submit  a consent form completed by their parent/guardian. Parental consent forms are available for download here. The minimum age for riders is 16.
  • If the event is held in poor or little light, then front and rear lights must be used and must have adequate battery life for the duration of the event.
  • The use of the below are not permitted in British Cycling registered non-competitive events:
    • Recumbent cycles
    • Triathlon / time trial bars or other similar bar extensions
    • Disc wheels or tri-spokes
    • Penny farthings
  • The use of earphones for the purposes of playing music whilst riding is strongly discouraged.
  • Rider must carry a form of ID which shows their name, address and emergency contact details.
  • Riders must obey the Highway Code at all times and ride in a manner which is safe for themselves and others.
  • Riders are expected to promote collective responsibility among themselves  ensuring courtesy and etiquette on the road - avoiding incidents, look, think and communicate with others
  • Riders should carry money, a mobile phone and emergency spares where possible.
  • Organisers reserve the right to change the published route if necessary.
  • Whilst the Organisers will endeavour to provide all available facilities and services promoted with the event they cannot guarantee medals and lunch etc for all participants if demand out strips supply
  • Riders participate in this event at their own risk. It is their responsibility to deal with hazards on the road.
  • No liability whatsoever shall attach to the organiser/promoter, landlord of the HQ, event sponsors, or any event helper/marshal or official in respect of any injury, loss or damage suffered by riders in or by reason of the event, unless such injury, loss or damage is proven to be caused by the negligence of the aforementioned.

  • Hand Cycles
    • Hand cycling is for riders who normally require a wheelchair for general mobility and are not able to use a conventional bicycle because of a disability. It is advised that hand cyclists ensure they are visible on the roads, e.g. the use of a vertical, visible flag placed at the back of the hand cycle.
